KAYLA ARMBRUST is an associate at The Noble Law Firm and advocates for clients on appeal and in postconviction proceedings.
Kayla is committed to defending the rights and dignity of individuals impacted by the criminal legal system. She believes every client deserves zealous advocacy, no matter the case. Her approach to legal representation aims to empower and support clients in navigating a system that often overlooks their humanity.
Kayla has represented clients convicted of first- and second-degree murder, felony murder, sex offenses, motor vehicle theft, drug offenses, and various misdemeanors. She has experience representing clients on direct appeal in both district court and the court of appeals, in Rule 21 petitions before the Colorado Supreme Court, and in postconviction proceedings, including Crim. P. 35(c) evidentiary hearings.
Kayla has a strong foundation in public interest and criminal defense. She attended the University of Denver Sturm College of Law (Denver Law) as a Chancellor’s Scholar, a scholarship awarded in recognition of demonstrated commitment to public interest. While at Denver Law, Kayla practiced juvenile criminal defense under Colorado’s Student Practice Act and participated in the Child Advocacy Program. This work developed skills in effective mitigation investigation and presentation to place clients in the best possible position for relief. She also externed with Denver’s Problem-Solving Courts, the Colorado Supreme Court, and a firm specializing in postconviction relief. These experiences honed Kayla’s legal research and writing skills, earning her a Scholastic Excellence Award in Legal Research and Writing. Kayla received the Public Good Distinction upon graduation, reflecting a sustained dedication to public interest work.
Prior to law school, Kayla earned dual undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Sociology, along with a minor in Legal Studies, from Colorado State University.
